Wilmino Domond, born in 1925 in Jacmel, was first a coffee farmer before becoming inspired to paint by his cousin Castera Bazile. While never abandoning agriculture, he joined the Centre d'Art in 1948 and launched a highly successful career as a painter. In recent years, Domond's output has significantly decreased and he once again devotes most of his energy to his farm outside Jacmel.
His work is included in the permanent collections of the Figge Art Museum in Iowa and the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut.
