Denis Emile

Denis Emile was born in Port-au-Prince in 1919. He joined the Centre d'Art in the 1940s, and left in 1950 to help found the Foyer des Arts Plastiques. Emile's expression of moral wretchedness has made him an important figure of Haitian social painting.
