Damien PAUL was born in 1941 in Drouillard in the Cul de Sac valley. A self-taught artist, he enteredLe Centre d’Art in 1969. A sculptor of iron as well as a painter, Paul was fascinated with scenes of Haitian life and voodoo. Emigrated to the United States in the 1980s, Damien PAUL currently resides in Florida.
His works have been included in many exhibits in Haiti, the United States, France, Jamaica as well as Mexico, in places such as the Brooklyn Museum, the Davenport Museum and the Tennessee Botanical Art Garden. Paul’s oeuvres are also included in the permanent collections at the Waterloo Museum, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Figge Art Museum and Le Centre d’Art in Port-au-Prince.
